The error message you provided indicates that the execution of the main task for your DemoApplication
failed, and the process finished with a non-zero exit value. This typically means that your Java application encountered an issue during startup or execution.
Here are a few steps you can take to diagnose and troubleshoot the issue:
-
Check Application Logs: Look for any logs or error messages printed to the console by your application when it fails to start. These logs can provide valuable information about the root cause of the problem.
-
Review Application Code: Review the code of your
DemoApplication
class and any other relevant classes to check for any potential issues such as incorrect configurations, missing dependencies, or runtime exceptions. -
Run with Debug Mode: Try running your application in debug mode from IntelliJ IDEA. This allows you to pause execution at breakpoints and inspect the state of your application to identify any issues.
-
Check Java Version Compatibility: Ensure that your application is compatible with Java 17. Some libraries or frameworks may not yet fully support the latest Java versions, so it's possible that your application encounters compatibility issues.
-
Check External Dependencies: If your application depends on external services or libraries, ensure that they are properly configured and accessible. Issues with external dependencies can also cause your application to fail at startup.
-
Run Gradle with Debug Options: If you're running your application using Gradle, you can try running Gradle with debug options (
--debug
or--stacktrace
) to get more detailed information about the failure. -
Check System Environment: Double-check that your Java environment variables are correctly set and that IntelliJ IDEA is using the correct Java version to run your application.
-
Update Gradle and Plugins: The warning about deprecated Gradle features suggests that your build script may be using outdated features. Consider updating Gradle and any Gradle plugins to the latest versions to ensure compatibility.
By following these steps and investigating the possible causes of the error, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with your Java application startup. If you need further assistance, providing additional details such as the application code or specific error messages would be helpful for further diagnosis.
